Research

I am currently learning more about brain computer interface models. I am also working on a robot which deals with image processing and interaction scenarios.

BCI (Brain Computer Interface)

During my sophomore year in college, I was deeply involved with a project that studied if the motor signals generated by the brain while moving the arms/legs were the same as when one would imagine moving them. The hypothesis was supported by the fact that the motor signals are sent 1.3 mu seconds before the actual action takes place. If this could be proved, then we could help the paralyzed as well as physically challenged people.

The project as such involved interpreting the brain signals using dry electrodes with a software called BCI 2000, the license of which we acquired from Wadsworth university, and isolating the motor signals from the noise. These signals where then processed with the help of MATLAB to control a robotic arm. We took the samples of a few volunteers.

Torque ripple minimization in a Direct Torque Controlled Induction motor

As a part of my final year project, I worked on the minimization techniques of a direct torque controlled induction motor. The research involved studying the various methods of controlling the motor and simulating the best ripple minimization technique. We worked under the guidance of Prof. Kumaravel.
