The tragedy that is India

posted Aug 31, 2010 3:27 AM by Ganesh App

To keep the government in check it is important to have the participation of middle class.

The rich has direct ties with the government. Any ruling by the government is mandated by them. Nobody cares about the poor and how they are affected by the policies of the the government. In such a state, only the middle class can keep the government in check.

But unfortunately for India, we have evolved into a system where the middle class is shielded away from the government. Health, education, transport are the four major sections which affect the quality of life in a country. The middle class has chosen to use private hospitals, private schools and own vehicles. Any policy of the government will never have a big impact on their lives. In fact they can live without the government and its policies. And this explains why nothing changes in India, even when the policies of the government are hindering the poor from sustaining themselves and the hungry are left starving in the streets and the farmers left with no option but to commit suicide.
